BOOT CAMP

We are well into Year 2 of Boot camp and I hope you are feeling that it’s all worth it!

The plan for the rest of this year is as follows…

Sat 5th April – Training Camp, 9-11am, the Stables

Sat 10th May – Million hours of Kindness, mission opportunity! I am looking for Boot camp to

be involved in the daytime acts of kindness. They will be supervised. There are unlikely to be

supervised activities for children who are not in Boot Camp although other children will be

able to take part in the day with their parents.

20th-22nd June – Weekend away, Devon. I have provisionally booked space in a small

conference centre near Dartmoor in Devon. If you think your child would like to be part of this

weekend could you let me know as an indication of numbers would be very useful.

28th June – Fair oak Carnival. Planning to put Boot Camp (and maybe Flight Deck) in the Carnival. We

will be working on a Boot Camp float!

19th July – Training Camp, 9-11am, the Stables

Boot Camp; No games, no biscuits, no cutting and sticking.

Just an opportunity to take discipleship seriously!

Further info:

Boot Camp is a new initiative for children in Year 5 or 6 called Boot Camp. This is a child-friendly, relational discipleship programme designed to build God’s kingdom with the next generation. It will consist of a monthly Training Camp supported by a variety of mission opportunities. Boot Camp will use a range of teaching methods to put prayer, worship and the Bible into a framework that will make sense to children.

The Programme is called Boot Camp as we will insist on a level of discipline and engagement that is difficult to achieve at larger events such as Flight Deck or events with a mixed age group such as Family Time. Attendance will not be compulsory at every Training Camps but regular attendance will ensure continuity for what is likely to be a small group. Attendance at the majority of the Training Camps will be required before children will be allowed to be part of the special events.

Boot Camp:

What: A mix of prayer, worship, teaching and mission…

Who: Open to anyone in Year 5, 6 or7.

When: One Saturday morning a month, 9-11am, plus ‘special’ events.
