Church
'A Home
Church is a friendly gathering of about 6-12 people. We meet to help each other
grow in faith, have fun and experience the kind of caring environment we all
need. It’s a place where we can reach our potential in Christ and introduce our
friends to the Christian faith.’
Values:
- All
involved: Every member of the Home Church has a part to play
- Becoming Disciples: Every member will seek to know Jesus and make him better
known
- Creating Community: Home Church is not another meeting, but a group where
dynamic loving, caring and accountable relationships facilitate discipleship and
outreach.
- Doing Evangelism: Equipping us to be able to walk alongside our friends and
family who do not yet know Jesus.
- Encountering God: We recognise that in our own strength we are weak, but with
the power of the Holy Spirit anything is possible!
What
happens:
All our
Home Churches have their own flavour; but the DNA is the same. A typical meeting
could look something like this:
Welcome: 20 minutes of chat and coffee—aimed at getting to know each other
better
Word: 30 minutes discovering how the word of God can be applied to our lives
Worship: 15 minutes of focus on God—using songs and reflection
Works: 15 minutes to pray for each other, making space for the Holy Spirit to
impact our lives.
World: 10 minutes to pray for and to plan events for those outside our Home
Church family.
Home Churches are at the very centre of all we do at St Thomas. If you consider
yourself a member of St Thomas’ Church you should belong to one.If you are new
to St Thomas the best way to get to know people , the best way to develop your
relationship with God is to join a Home Church!
