Oasis

Oasis is a group for women of all ages at St. Toms who want to meet God, meet friends and live life better.

We meet on Wednesday mornings during term time at 10 a.m. in the church extension and always start with refreshments – freshly brewed coffee or tea and something nice to eat – an important time to catch up with friends and meet new people.

(We have a crèche, should you need to use it, but not all of us need to. Some of us haven’t got to that stage yet, some of us are past it!)

Then we move into worship and prayer before studying God’s word. Every week is different: we may have different people leading the morning or we may watch a DVD. Sometimes we have group discussions and there is usually a time for sharing any concern for prayer with a friend. Our group is a safe place where confidences are respected and trust grows.

Also important to our group, and running alongside our spiritual growth and refreshment, is our witness to our friends and our local community. Open mornings with breakfast or coffee and cake; craft mornings; coffee mornings in homes with our neighbours; blessing the community by giving out seasonal treats are all events which happen regularly as part of our programme. The aim is to widen our circle of friends, to bless them, love them and pray for them, so that we may get to know one another and Jesus better and be there for one another when needed.
