Sunnybank

Zion Projects, a charity formed to help the community of Fair Oak and Horton Heath enjoy its community life through the activities of the Christian churches throughout the locality, was formed in 2003. One of the dreams of this charity, since its inception is to one day facilitate an offer to the community for a place where our communal life takes place ‘under one roof’ and enables the church to play its full part in serving the community by working together with ‘partners’ in delivering wellbeing to our community.

Zion Projects have commissioned contaminated ground civil engineering expertise from Giffords and architectural services from Now Design. They have recently commissioned McNaughts for Quantity Surveying advice and have been greatly encouraged by the Sustainability Centre at Petersfield to develop the design of
Sunnybank – A Centre for Wellbeing as a very effective environmentally sensitive and carbon-emission reducing building.

Information sharing meetings have taken place with Fair Oak and Horton Heath Parish Council, the Governing Body of Fair Oak Junior School, early consultations with the Governing Body representatives at Fair Oak Infant School and is presently being shared within the Wyvern Governing Body and senior leadership team to see if there is any interest in the ‘core offer’ of a beautiful building which surrounds the learning environment of our community with the services of our community groups, together with a wonderful ‘café of the day’ which can overlook the space and enable children within our community to grow up with a great sense of wellbeing.

To the rear of the premises, you will note that there is the possibility of considering further extending the sports provision of our community, with undercover multi-use surfaced facilities.

To also facilitate ongoing summer activities outside, an ‘Amphitheatre’ will be formed using the ground itself as a wonderful natural environment for community events / festivals in good weather.

The fact that the Fair Oak and Horton Heath Parish Council have developed the seven fields of Fair Oak to the South and East of the potential development has been wonderful to see, as some of the most beautiful parts of our village will become more and more available to everyone over the next few years.

Community groups who have already expressed interest are Street Pastors, Kingdom Business Initiative, The Greening Campaign. Initial conversations with the Winchester Consortium representing our local GP Practices has begun.
